Bobbin Tool Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Using Different Tool Pin Geometries: Mathematical Models for the Heat Generation

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this work, three mathematical models for the heat generation during bobbin tool friction stir welding (BT-FSW) of aluminum using pin geometries have been proposed. The utilized and updated available conventional (CT-FSW). For validation models, BT-FSW experiments carried out alloy AA1050 different (cylindrical, square, triangular), at speeds 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000 mm/min a constant rotation speed 600 rpm. temperatures measured to be compared with that calculated from same parameters. It has found are in good agreement all investigated especially case square cylindrical pins, proving validity developed predication as well temperatures. This will allow proper designing parameters avoiding conditions can deteriorate joint quality properties.

Effect of Tool Shoulder and Pin Cone Angles in Friction Stir Welding using Non-circular Tool Pin

In friction stir welding frictional heat is generated by the rotating tool, sliding over the stationary plate along the weld centre. Tool being the only source of heat producing member, its geometrical design influences the heat generation rate. In this present work, effects of variation in tool shoulder and tool pin taper angles on thermal history during joining are analysed. Tools with triang...

Modeling of heat generations for different tool profiles in friction stir welding: study of tool geometry and contact conditions

In this work, improved heat generation models are developed for straight and tapered shoulder geometries with different tool pin profiles in friction stir welding. The models are developed considering the welding process as a combination of the pure sliding and the pure sticking conditions. From the results, the amount of heat generation is directly proportional to the number of edges in the pi...
